Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! In honor of our great nation, I wanted to share a tasty American dish with you! I put my own twist to this classic sandwich by caramelizing bacon with light brown sugar & cayenne pepper! It’s so delicious you’ll never make a plain BLT ever again!
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Line a cookie pan with tin foil and place a cooling rack inside. Lay your bacon slices along the rack. I suggest using thick cut bacon for this recipe.
On one side only, rub light brown sugar into your bacon.
Lightly sprinkle with ground cayenne pepper. Place in your preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. Be sure to check frequently.
Remove your bacon from the oven and allow to slightly cool. Try not to eat all of them before you make your sandwich! It will be tough! Preheat a small pan with olive oil & gently fry one egg over easy, allowing the yolk to not cook through!
Assemble your BLT by toasting whole grain bread, spread on bit of mayo, lettuce, ripe tomato, bacon & one over easy egg! Season with fresh ground pepper.
I showcased this tasty treat on this one of a kind serving board made by Timber Forge Woodworks! Get your very own unique serving board at their Etsy shop link below!
Food Memory: this recipe is inspired by my dad…who makes these monster breakfast sandwiches for us when we visit…he uses toasted rye bread and calls them “Bacon Busters” Thanks for this yummy memory poppa!
And most importantly ……. Enjoy! Bon Appetito, Christina
