Grilled Summer Asparagus
Grilled summer asparagus is always my go to when I want a delicious veggie that is fresh, delicious and so easy to prepare. I prefer thinner stalks as they take just minutes to cook on the grill. They are just tossed liberally with extra virgin olive oil and seasoned salt and then placed on a hot stovetop or outdoor grill. The thin stalks, like the ones below, take about 2-3 minutes cook.
I place a clove of garlic and some fresh cut rosemary I had in the garden to just add more flavor, but that is optional.
I make my own seasoned salt …it is a combination of sea salt, dried rosemary, sage, thyme, garlic and black pepper. But just plain sea salt and pepper will produce a delicious flavor as well. Below is a picture of the balsamic vinegar I drizzle on the grilled asparagus just before serving. It is a very special vinegar that I discovered while visiting a beautiful winery in Tuscany and available online at Tenuta Torciano. It is carefully aged to a delightful sweetness that compliments this early summer asparagus. Perfecto!
