White Wine & Gin Cocktail

White Wine & Gin Cocktail

You must be thinking ….White Wine & Gin….say what?!  However, it’s actually quite common and there are many variations to mixing gin with wine. If you are a Gin lover like myself, you are always trying new ways to enjoy gin then simply mixing with tonic. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good gin & tonic (especially with muddled cucumber…yum!) but I wanted to share new cocktail with you that is refreshing & vibrant!

A good friend of mine, Amy Woodall, who is the co-owner of Raising The Bar, a mobile bartending company here in Atlanta, has tasted my many attempts at mixing gin & wine. I hope you like this one girlfriend!

*Stay tuned as I will be featuring some of the their amazing drink recipes here on our blog. If you are in the Atlanta area, definitely hire RTB for your next event! Their team of professionals do not disappoint!

Wine & Gin Cocktail

I started off with making a mint simple syrup. Very simple ~ hence the name!

Simple syrup is equal parts water & sugar. Boil 1 cup water. Remove from the heat and dissolve one cup sugar. Add a spring of “slapped” mint and allow to steep while your syrup cools to room temp. That’s it!

* Slap your mint in-between your hands to release its oils. You may also muddle it if you prefer.

Now lets assemble! Take a rocks glass & fill with crushed ice. Set aside. Grab your shaker and put in the following ingredients.

  • 1 -2 ounces Gin ~ Depending on how strong you like it.
  • 4-6 ounces of White Wine ~ I used Sauvignon Blanc in this recipe but Pino Grigio pairs nicely as well.
  • 1 squirt or 1 teaspoon Mint Simple Syrup
  • 1-2 Mint leaves (slap em!)
  • A light squeeze of fresh lemon Juice

Shake vigorously with ice and strain into your rocks glass. Top with a splash of club soda. Garnish with mint & a lemon twist! Now put your feet up and sip your minty wine & gin concoction! I hope you enjoy!!!

Boun Appetito,

Christina
